Matt 6:25 (Jesus spoke) “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, & the body more than clothing?”
Thoughts:
Sometimes I catch myself worrying about not worrying. Us christians love to preach about giving all our worries to God, giving our life to Him, trusting that God has a plan for everything, & trusting that God will always take care of us. It’s true, that is one of the most amazing feelings & a huge stress relief. But no one ever talks about how “not worrying” can sometimes be a little worrying. I’ve put all my trust in God. I don’t worry about anything anymore. I trust God to provide me with a job, with a way to get food, have shelter, keep me healthy, & protect me. Even when things aren’t going the way I thought they would I still trust His plan & timing. Lately I have been catching myself worrying over the fact that I’m not worrying. I will get this sense of uselessness. Sitting back & waiting on God can take a lot of patience. I get restless & the devil starts testing me. He puts these thoughts in my head like, “God doesn’t want me just sitting around, He wants me to take action & do my part of the work so that He can do His, even tho I heard God tell me to wait.” or “there is no way God is making me wait this long, I must have misheard Him or messed something up in His plan, I should try to fix it.”. These are all tricks sent to try & trip us up. In these moments I pray & ask God for patience. I remind myself that the whole point of “not worrying” is just that…. to not worry. My God has me in His hands. I trust Him. So I will wait & not worry.
Verses:
Ps 27:14 “Wait for the Lord; be strong & let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.
Matt 6:34 (Jesus spoke) “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Luke 12:25 (Jesus spoke) “& which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span?”
