~ In with the LIGHT, out with the DARKNESS ~
Light Is..
1. The natural agent that stimulates sight & makes things visible.
2. Light is power that we can see.
3. It is bright, brilliant, shining, radiant, gleaming, glowing, dazzling.
Darkness Is..
1. Absence of light, gloominess, dullness, shadiness.
2. Evil, wicked, corrupted, sin.
•Which of these do you want to look like? Be labeled as? Do you want to be seen as bright, powerful, & glowing? Or dull, dark, & gloomy?
Light.. exposes darkness; it exposes every little spec of dirt, it makes all your sins & mistakes visible, & it forces us to be vulnerable with God, with ourselves, & with others.
It Also
Causes life & all undertakings to flourish.
Step 1. Spot Light
First God is going to come into your dark, unlit house (your heart). It’s been so dark for so long that our eyes have become use to the current darkness. We think we can see perfectly fine without any light. Since no one else can see our heart very well we have not been cleaning. We’ve let the filth of our sins pile in the darkness in us. Some people don’t try to hide their filth. They show it to everyone. Others are ashamed & embarrassed so they keep their door locked & wont allow anyone in. God is standing at your door knocking, but you don’t want Him to see what’s inside. Once you allow God to come inside then He can begin to clean house & repair what’s broken. This is where the spot light comes in. You need to place a spot light in your heart with God & allow Him to discover all the things that are wrong. Once you have accepted those wrongs in you then you can allow God to help fix them.
Ps 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet & a light to my path.”
•Let God guide you.
Is 58:8 “Then your light will break out like the dawn, & your recovery will speedily spring forth; & your righteousness will go before you; the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.”
•“The light” meaning the joy & prosperity the Lord will bring into your life & allow you to experience.
•“Be your rear guard” expressing how God will guide & protect us.
Step 2. Clean House
Grab a mop & lots of soap because we’ve got work to do! We all know it is way harder to clean up a huge mess rather then a small, tiny mess. It can be overwhelming, but you aren’t alone. God will get you through this part. Also make sure you remember this once you clean house. When a little dirt comes your way, take care of it immediately instead of allowing it to get bigger & bigger.
1 John 1:5-10 “God is Light, & in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him & yet walk in darkness, we lie & do not practice truth; but if we walk in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, & the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves & the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful & righteous to forgive us our sins & to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar & His word is not in us.”
2 Cor 4:2-6 “We have renounced the things hidden because of shame, not walking in craftiness or adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. & even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, & ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”
Step 3. Installation
Now that your house is cleaned out it is time for more permanent living conditions. You are blessed because you have the most perfect electrician available for you. Trust Him. He makes no mistakes. You must allow God to install His Light into your heart so that you can always see clearly & will be able to spot any dirt instantly.
Definition – An electrical installation is a combination of electrical equipment installed from a common electrical supply to fulfill a particular purpose.
•This is the same with God’s Light.
•God wants to install the equipment He has that is specifically & perfectly made for you that comes from His never ending supply of powerful light that has a specific purpose for you.
John 12:46 “I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.”
Ps 18:28 “For You light my lamp; the Lord my God illumines my darkness.”
Step 4. Unfailing Power
Once His Light is in our hearts permanently it goes where ever we go. We have perfect electricity everywhere. No matter the circumstances that appear. Even when the darkest storm clouds surround me I will see clearly.
Ps 112:4 “Light arises in the darkness for the upright; He is gracious & compassionate & righteous.”
•In times of trouble or “darkness” God will provide us with light.
Is 60:1-2 “Arise, shine; for your light has come, & the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth & deep darkness will fill the people; but the Lord will rise upon you & His glory will appear upon you.
•“Light” meaning the Lord Himself.
•“Darkness” meaning gloom, oppression, & sin.
Ps 27:1 “The Lord is my Light & my salvation.”
John 1:9 “There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.”
John 8:12 “Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.’”
Eph 5:8 “For you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light”
Step 5. The FlashLight
A big reason why we are suppose to depend on God to guide us is because we can’t see the whole picture. We can’t see the true souls & intentions of people. We can’t see the darkness. We may see a job that looks perfect , but God sees the darkness in it. We may think someone is a good friend, influence, or person to get advice from, but God sees the darkness & bad filling them. God is the light. We must fill ourselves with His Light so that we can expose darkness. Remember to use His light as a flashlight to see the dangers ahead we need to avoid & also as a rescuer searching for victims that are in need of the light to wash away their darkness.
Daniel 2:22 “It is He who reveals the profound & hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, & the light dwells with Him.”
Prov 4:18-19 “The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter & brighter until the full day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.”
•Us Christians receive all the guidance & protection we need.
•With this we are able to lead others to righteousness.
•The other path leads to destruction.
Is 9:2-3 “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them. You shall multiply the nation, You shall increase their gladness; they will be glad in Your presence as with the gladness of harvest.”
Matt 5:16 “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, & glorify your Father in heaven.”
