Intro:
God Will..
Bring down His heavy hand on the stubborn silence of unacknowledged sin filled life with groaning.
or
Bring blessed relief with confession of sin.
God will use physical & psychological pains to deal with suppressed sin, & you will have emotional disturbances brought on by suppressed guilt that you may not even know exists. He does this by either inflicting troubles or illness or sometimes both.
Psalm 32:3-4 “When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day & night Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer.”
• Vitality ~ the state of being strong & active; energy.
• If we continue to hold our sins in & keep them pushed down it will affect our bodies physically & our minds emotionally.
Psalm 32:5 “I acknowledge my sin to You, & my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”; & You forgave the guilt of my sin.”
•Iniquity ~ immoral, sinful, & evil behavior.
•We must confess ALL of our sins out loud, in a private, quiet area to God.
•We must ask God to reveal our hidden & suppressed sins as well so that we may deal with those also.
•Then we can be guilt free.
Psalm 32:6-7 “Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely in a flood of great waters they will not reach him. You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance.”
•When we are in need of help we are to pray to God.
•He will protect us & carry us out of our troubles.
•He is our safe place.
Psalm 32:8-9 “I will instruct you & teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. Do not be as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding.”
•As God’s servants we are called to be wiser than animals.
•When the owner tries to instruct a mule where to go he will be stubborn & difficult. We are to be willing & allow God to lead us.
•We must have understanding instead of stubbornness.
•We must be even more open to God’s Will for our lives than horses are to the Will of their owners/masters.
Psalm 38:3-4 “There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your indignation; there is no health in my bones because of my sin. For my iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.
•Indignation ~ anger or annoyance.
•By holding on to these sins we are decreasing our physical health.
Psalm 38:6-7 “I am bent over & greatly bowed down; I go mourning all day long. For my loins are filled with burning, & there is no soundness in my flesh.
•“Mourning all day” May refer to emotional disturbances; depression, anxiety, or unhappiness.
•This whole verse describes a person that is bent over, moping around, not happy, & filled with pain & uneasiness. Does this person look like you?
•1. No motivation 2. Unhappy 3. Physical pain 4. Doesn’t feel safe & secure.
Psalm 38:8 “I am benumbed & badly crushed; I groan because of the agitation of my heart.
•Benumbed ~ deprived of physical or emotional feeling.
Psalm 38:10 “My heart throbs, my strength fails me; & the light of my eyes has gone from me.
•Any sin we allow to stay in us takes up space that God is suppose to be filling up.
•Without God we are nothing.
•God gives us strength.
•God gives us purpose.
•God gives us joy.
•Remove the sin from your life & replace that space with God.
Psalm 38:18 “For I confess my iniquity; I am full of anxiety because of my sin.
•God wants each & every one of us to be on our top game. At full health. No pain. No depression. No anxiety. Full strength. Full patience. Full peace.
•We need to be healthy & strong in order to be strong, faithful Christian soldiers.
•We need to be prepared for the fight God has ahead for each of us.
